Jwow – Wowing the Senses.

City Weekend (Shanghai). 30/08/2007

Bar review of Jwow a Shanghai wine bar.

Say hello to Jwow (pronounced ciao) which is filling Senses spot. With a sister bar in Melbourne the accent is very much on wine. The most obvious changes are the glass wine library, which doubles up as a Red Wine Village sales outlet, along with the glass wine cases in the bar. East meets west design lends a classy feel to the bar. Faux white sofas create a comfortable seating area under oriental style lampshades in the brick and wooden beam finished room. A 200+ selection of wine (emphasis on Australian) is available by the bottle along with an ever changing large list by the glass (mainly Y50-100). A new food and cocktail menu will be launched soon. With a secluded garden patio area the bar should prove to be a weekend hit but a Saturday night visit shows it’s yet to make the map.
