How the magazine rack is your friend as a writer and in any English speaking country you should be making a visit to look for new publications. 

If you want to succeed as a travel writer you need to be on a constant lookout for new publications and opportunities to get more bylines. This means looking online, and searching for hard copies in places such as the doctor’s waiting room or the hair salon. However, when trying to move up the totem pole to higher paid publications, the magazine rack of a bookshop or newsagent is jackpot gold. Most of the publications you find there will be well respected—and that should come with corresponding remuneration.
